The Michigan Daily is the largest, at 400+ members, and oldest on-campus student publication that serves the University of Michigan community, Ann Arbor, and the greater Washtenaw County area.
All works are a courtesy of cross-functional collaboration between the Michigan Daily Web team, in which the product design subteam resides, and various sections across the publication.
In collaboration with the TMD Photography and Video sections, this interactive special editions site features the selected 2022 favorite works from each member of the photography staff. The team opted for an interactive layout to highlight photography works as the main focal point. Each scrolling element contains, where provided, a video interview with the photographer, the detailing of the photographing process and associated personal anecdotes.
In collaboration with the TMD News, Business, and Photography sections, the annual Best of Ann Arbor project garners engagement from the greater Ann Arbor community as votes are casted in support of community favorites and local businesses within various categories, ranging from Best Romantic Dinner to Best Nightlife. The design of the interactive voting interface took into consideration many factors including voting status feedback, number of category items, visual compactness, and the rapid development timeframe.
In collaboration with the TMD Sports section, the Rivalry Edition details the history of the Ohio State University and University of Michigan rivalry, from 1897 to present day, through various archival and modern newspaper editions. The interactive timeline layout of this edition highlights the extensive timespan as well as allowing for the various newspaper editions detailing the rivalry to be the center of attention.
